About PourQui
PourQui brings together free tools for images and PDFs that run directly in your browser. There is no big company behind the site, just one person: me.
Who am I?
My name is Virgie, and I have been a web developer since 1996. Around 1998, I created Le CGI.net, a French-language site that offered webmasters free scripts to install on their pages: hit counters, guestbooks, forums… I sold it in 2004, but the idea never left me: build small, useful tools and make them available to everyone, for free.
Today I run several websites, including a-imprimer.com and faux-diplomes.fr. I do everything myself: development, design, testing and support.
Why PourQui?
Shrinking an image, converting it, cropping it, turning photos into a PDF… These are simple tasks, yet most online tools ask you to upload your files to an unknown server, create an account, or wait behind a usage limit. I wanted the opposite: tools that are instant, free and respectful of your files.
Your files stay with you
Every PourQui tool works locally, in your browser. Your images and PDFs are never sent to a server: I can't access them, and neither can anyone else. That is also what makes the tools fast: no upload, no waiting.
Even the photo scanner works this way: the artificial intelligence model that finds the edges of your print, which I designed and trained myself, runs directly on your device.
One task, one tool
Each tool does one thing, with only the settings you actually need. No endless menus or hidden options: pick the tool that fits your task, drop in your file and get your result.
How the site is funded
PourQui is free and requires no sign-up. It is funded by the ads shown on its pages, which pay for hosting and let me keep adding new tools.
An idea or a problem?
If a tool doesn't work as expected, or if you're missing a tool for an everyday task, write to me at contact [at] pourqui.com. Many of the site's tools were born from a very real need.
