Which image formats are supported?
The tool accepts formats that your browser can open. JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP are supported directly. Depending on your browser, other formats such as GIF, BMP, SVG or AVIF may also be readable. When the browser can read a format but cannot export it again in the same format, PourQui generates a PNG so resizing remains possible.

Resizing an image lets you adapt it to a specific use: reduce its file size, meet a required width, prepare a photo for a website, form, email or social network, or enlarge a visual when larger dimensions are needed.

Should you keep the proportions?
In most cases, yes. Keeping the proportions lets you change the width or height without stretching or squashing the image. When this option is enabled, the other dimension is calculated automatically. It may only be useful to disable it when a format intentionally requires an exact width and height, accepting the risk of distortion.
Resize or crop: what is the difference?
Resizing keeps the whole image and only changes its dimensions. Cropping, on the other hand, removes part of the image to keep only a specific area. To make an image smaller without losing content, resize it; to remove borders or recenter a subject, crop it.

Are my images uploaded to PourQui.com?
No. Reading, resizing, previewing and generating the new file are all done directly in your browser.
Can I enlarge an image?
Yes. The exact dimensions can be larger than the original. Enlarging does not create new detail, however: an image enlarged too much may become less sharp.
Why does an animated GIF become a static image?
The browser can display an animated GIF, but resizing through a working image does not preserve its animation. For this type of file, the tool exports a static image.
Why do some formats become PNG files?
Browsers can read more formats than they can generate. For formats that cannot be directly re-exported, PNG is used as a reliable lossless output format.
